Kansans Can Star Recognitions Program recognizes district success

During Monday’s Board of Education meeting, USD489 was honored by the Kansans Can Star Recognitions Program, earning copper, bronze and silver level achievements. The Kansas Department of Education implements the Kansans Can Star Recognition Program in order to support the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation model process by providing recognition that highlights areas of improvement.

Kiwanis hosts Annual Veterans Luncheon

The Hays Kiwanis Club will be hosting Ellis County Veterans and active military personnel at its Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, November 3. Those being honored will enjoy a free meal and live music program featuring the TMP Pop Singers. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Rose Garden Banquet Hall, 2350 East 8th Hwy 40 in Hays.

FHSU’s Docking Institute releases Kansas Speaks survey

The Docking Institute of Public Policy recently released the annual Kansas Speaks Survey of public opinion. A panel of 520 adult residents of Kansans age 18 and older were surveyed online to assess their attitudes and opinions regarding various issues of interest to Kansas citizens. This year’s survey covered topics including quality of life, the economy, satisfaction with government, politicians, and election integrity, a range of public policy issues, and the state of education in Kansas.
