Domestic Disturbance/Barricaded

On October 12, 2022, at 5:29 p.m. the Hays Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance at 332 West 8th Street in Hays. The caller reported that they were able to hear yelling and a physical disturbance in the basement apartment at that address. Officers from the Hays Police Department responded to the domestic disturbance.

40 years valuing Hays’ visitors

Thursday afternoon, the Hays Conventions and Visitors Bureau celebrated 40 years with a ceremonial ribbon cutting along with memories of Hays’ history throughout the building. The Hays CVB first began implementing a two percent transient guest tax in 1982, originated by Julius Legleiter and Lloyd Lundy.

Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science to hold fall 2022 information sessions

Fort Hays State University’s Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS) will host free information sessions across the state for any interested students and their families in October and November. In addition to the traditional sessions, KAMS will also host four Counselor Luncheons for interested school counselors to provide important updates about the program.
