With theater a centerpiece in her life, Addy Brull started her acting career at just eight years old with Hays Community Theater. She has been a part of 11 shows, including Urinetown presented by Hays High last fall. Born and raised in Kansas, she has always felt pulled to the iconic lead in the Wizard of Oz.
On July 24, 2022, at 10:40 a.m. dispatch received the first 911 call regarding an armed robbery at the Dollar General store at 1208 E. 27th Street in Hays. The cashier reported a black male with a handgun robbed the store of money and left the building. The cashier reported that no one was injured. Officers responded to the scene and began searching the area.
TOPEKA — Three Kansas public high schools won all four national policy debate championships this year, an unprecedented accomplishment in an arena dominated by private schools. Policy debate has a rich history of being one of the most esteemed events in high school debate and forensics competitions.
District 7 of the Kansas Author’s Club is sponsoring a writing contest for all writers, 18 and older, living in Kansas or members of KAC living in another state. The contest runs from May 1 to August 15, 2022.

The Hays Public Library has filled two full-time positions. Jake Mishoulam is taking over the Outreach Coordinator position, and Jessica Shields is the new Public Services Coordinator. Both started work at the library the week of July 11th.

Rhiannon Corn, owner of Personalize It by Rhiannon, and Kellie Voss, owner of Homegrown Creations joined Senator Moran’s staff to discuss many issues about small business ownership, the supply chain issues facing businesses, and what it’s like being a small business owner in rural Kansas.
