Thomas More Prep-Marian members compete at the 2025 Kansas FBLA State Leadership Conference

On March 31st and April 1st, 2025, over 1,700 high school and middle school students from across the state of Kansas converged at the Stormont Vail Events Center and the Hotel Topeka at City Center to compete in the state’s largest business student competition—The Kansas Future Business Leaders of America State LeadershipConference. FBLA members from 93 different chapters vied for a chance to compete at this summer’s Future Business Leaders of American National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA on June 29 through July 2, 2025.

FHSU English students excel at International Sigma Tau Delta Convention

Fort Hays State University students showcased their literary talents on a national stage at the 2025 Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society convention, held March 19-22 in Pittsburgh, Penn. Senior English major Isaiah Russell, Codell, earned top honors, winning first place in the British literature critical essay competition for his analysis titled “Setting and Subjectivity in Kazuo Ishiguro’s A Pale View of Hill.” His award included a $500 prize.

Priorities the theme of City Commission and HRC Board Apr 2nd Joint Meeting

With all members of each governing body present, the Hays City Commission and Hays Recreation Commission (HRC) Board held a joint meeting on April 2, the 2-hour discussion the first of its kind whereby the two entities shared goals, priorities and "bigger picture issues" per City Manager Toby Dougherty. He explained that the City and HRC Board meet yearly for a discussion of the issues where the two interface.
