The Hays City Commission unanimously approved Ordinance 4069, adopting the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and International Resident Code (IRC), with amendments as legally described within the Ordinance on Mar. 27, 2025.

Our HAPp program began in January 2025 and is going strong! Participants are learning the basics about hypertension, how to take their blood pressure at home and be in dialogue with their health care provider about the data. They are also learning about lifestyle choices that can affect their blood pressure such as diet, exercise, and stress management.

Superintendent Ron Wilson reported to USD489 Board of Education (BOE) on Mar. 24, 2025, that work to complete rooms at the new Hays High School (HHS) is apparent.
On Mar. 3, 2025, following discussion, the USD489 Board of Education (BOE) rejected (4-3) a motion “to look into hiring a Project Manager for the remainder of the Bond and interview potential candidates under the supervision if the Board of Education.” BOE Vice President Jayme Goetz and fellow Board Members Ken Brooks, Ruth Ruder and Meagan Zampieri-Lillpopp voted against the measure; BOE President Curt Vajnar and fellow Board Members Allen Park and Derek Yarmer voted in favor of the motion.
