35.985 the 2025 County General Fund Mill Levy
On Sept. 10, 2024, following a Public Hearing and discussion, County Commissioners unanimously approved the published proposed 2025 $34,668,601 General Fund Budget with a mill levy tax rate of 35.985, meeting the Commissioners stated goal to lower the mill levy from 2024’s 36.624.

KDHE issues DO NOT DRINK ADVISORY for Country View Mobile Home Park
On Sept. 16, 2024, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) issued a Do Not Drink Advisory for the Country View Mobile Home Park public water supply system, located at 2300 East 7th St. This does not include the City of Hays. According to KDHE, 40-50 connections to the public water system are affected by this Do Not Drink Advisory.
2024 tax foreclosure proceedings initiated by County on 19 properties
During the Sept. 10, 2024, Ellis County Commission meeting, Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 2024-14 authorizing County Counselor Bill Jeter to initiate proceedings in the District Court of Ellis County for the tax foreclosure and sale of 19 real estate properties for delinquent taxes.
