City Commission gets first look at design for new Police Station/Municipal Court

Hays Deputy City Manager Collin Bielser presented City Commission with PWC’s initial interior design and preliminary exterior renderings to renovate the existing Astra Bank facility at 1100 Fort Street into the new Police Station / Municipal Court Facility as he submitted PWC’s $5,991,250 Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and Design-Build Agreement for Phase II services for acceptance. Bielser reminded the Commission that in Nov., 2024, the Commission awarded PWC, Inc.

Commissioners brace for tough work ahead on 2026 County Budget

Ellis County Administrator Darin Myers presented the First Draft of the 2026 Budget with total general fund revenues at $30,431,872 (increased $640,783 from the 2025 Budget) and expenditures of $33,330,079 (increased $661,478 from the 2025 Budget) to Commissioners on June 3, 2025. FHSU and Kansas Community Colleges announce new guaranteed admission program in school and clinical psychology

Fort Hays State University President Tisa Mason and Kansas Association of Community Colleges Director Heather Morgan were joined today by the presidents and representatives from Kansas’s network of 19 community colleges to officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a new guaranteed admission pathway from a two-year associate’s degree to FHSU’s bachelor’s degree programs in either clinical or school psychology. A unique feature of this pathway program is that the guarantee of acceptance extends through the master’s degree level in both the clinical psychology and school psychology programs as long as the student meets specific grade point average requirements.
