Allaire Thomas Homburg was born on November 7th, 1944 in a rock house a half a mile north of St. John’s Lutheran Church and passed March 16th, 2022 at Sheridan County Medical Center. His father August was the first child born in this rock house and Allaire was the last.

Esther Leanne Perrett

Esther Leanne Perrett, 74, Hays, died Saturday, March 12, 2022 at HaysMed. She was born May 22, 1947 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of Harry and Helen Jane (Arthur) Morrow. She was a graduate of Westminster High School in Colo-rado in the class of 1965. On August 7, 1982, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Perrett in Westminster, and they celebrated 40 years of marriage. In 1992, she graduated Cum Laude from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and worked as a social worker at Hays Medical Center. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Esther enjoyed reading, baking, movies, and never missed watching the Oscars every year with Harold. Esther was loving and kind, never met a stranger, put others’ needs ahead her own, and through all challenges possessed a positive spirit. All who knew Esther loved her, especially her family whom she loved most of all.

Blanche Zerr

Blanche Elizabeth Zerr, 91, of Grainfield, died Mon-day, March 7, 2022, at the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, in Quinter, KS. She was born during the dirty thirties, on October 31, 1930, in Hill City, KS, and was the first born of Joseph and Elizabeth (Dinkel) Richmeier. She grew up in St. Peter, KS and attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School there, where she learned her prayers and received her sacraments. After the 8th grade, at age 12, Blanche was sent to live with a group of young girls at a convent in Topeka, KS, where she worked at a hospital and sent the money she earned home to help support her family. Blanche was homesick, so after six months she was transferred to Hays, KS, to be closer to her family. She lived and worked there until she was 17.
