Donald L. Sander, 75, of Richland, IA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Jefferson County Health Care Center. Mae Suppes, 84, passed away November 16, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born on August 24, 1938, in Victoria, to Joseph & Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt. She married Edward Joseph Suppes on June 14, 1958, in Hays. He passed away September 3, 2005.

Derby - Ernest Edward “Ernie” Knipp, 75, passed away Saturday, November 5th, 2022. He was born December 1st, 1946 to Victor and Catherine (Brungardt) Knipp in Hays, Kansas. Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend. Ernie was a proud Army Vietnam veteran. He was a retired maintenance technician for Derby Schools & previously served in Salina Schools, he was known around Derby for his old yellow chevy truck. Ernie was a member of The American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Marvin Kriley. Ernie is survived by his Wife of 48yrs, Belinda (Benjamin) Knipp; Daughters: Sandra (Craig) Lafon, Teresa (Jason) Cole both of Derby; son: Philip Knipp of Wichita; grandchildren: Ethan, Aila, Emily & Addison; siblings: Ellie Kriley, Shirley Leochner, Gerald Knipp, Verlin Knipp, Ron Knipp & Sheryl Curry; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives & friends. Visitation: Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Smith Family Mortuary 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Rosary will be recited 10:00 am, followed by Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Thursday, November 10th, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church 2300 E. Meadowlark Derby, KS 67037. Interment with military honors to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers: St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund or Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City.

Jane Rae Pfannenstiel

Jane Rae Pfannenstiel, 87, Hays, left this world to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, with her loving family at her side on Friday, October 21, 2022 She was born January 9, 1935 in Damar, the daughter of Emile and Evelyn (Newell) Tremblay. Upon graduation, she moved to Hays, where she would meet her future husband, Marvin Francis Pfannenstiel. They would celebrate their love for each other in the Catholic Church and in front of their families as they united in marriage on October 22, 1955. Before Marvin’s passing in 2019, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. In their marriage, five children were born: Cindy, Carmen, Danny, Lisa, and Tim.
