Avis (Schindler) Look of Hays, KS, formerly of Stockton, KS, passed away on October 20, 2022, in Hays, KS at the age of 88. She was born on July 9, 1934, to Raymond and Vera (Arrington) Schindler in Greenfield Rooks County, KS. She was married to Lester E. Look on May 17, 1952, in Belleville, KS. They were blessed with two daughters: Patricia and Diane.
Francis “Frank” Jacobs, 78, of Topeka, Kansas died Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Heritage Gardens Nursing home after battling dementia. Frank was born on October 5, 1944 in Hays, Kansas. He was the son of Edward and Katherine Jacobs. He earned two Masters degrees from the University of Kansas. He married Alice Jacobs in 1978 but she passed in June of 2018. Frank had two brothers Edward Jacobs and Tom Jacobs and one sister, Ephigenia Jacobs. He is survived by his two children Kevyn Jacobs and Dale Jacobs. He has 2 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 17 great step grandchildren.

Robert Eugene Groff, 65, died October 15, 2022, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell, Kansas. He was born November 9, 1956, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Albert and Dolores (Dawson) Groff.

MEADE - Molly Anne Brenner, age 24, passed away Friday afternoon, October 14, 2022, at the University of Colorado Health Aurora Campus, Aurora, Colorado. She was born March 29, 1998, at Liberal, Kansas, the daughter of Mitch and Cindy (Cordes) Brenner.

Larned - Matthew Lee Montgomery, 43, passed away October 13, 2022 in Larned. He was born May 17, 1979 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, the son of Matthew and Therese Hardin Montgomery.

Troy Harrison Dechant died October 9 at his home in Shawnee, Kansas. Troy, 53, was born in Hays and was the ninth of 10 children of Harry and Berniece (Munsch) Dechant, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Hays High School in 1988. He remained in Hays before moving to Cleveland, Ohio, then Shawnee, where he lived for many years.

Patricia S. “Pat” Scheck, age 82, passed away October 2, 2022 at Diversicare of Sedgwick, Sedgwick, KS. She was born on July 26, 1940 at Anthony, KS, the daughter of Grant E. and Maxine D. (Frank) Martin. Pat was a resident at Diversicare of Sedgwick, having recently relocated from Legend of Hutchinson. She was formerly a resident of Macksville, KS from 1961 to 2019. She was a 1958 graduate of Attica High School and then attended one year at Pratt Community Junior College. She worked several jobs over the years, including as a waitress at the Char-Burg in Pratt, a homemaker, a bookkeeper for A & S Repair in Macksville, a librarian at the Macksville City Library, a CNA at Leisure Homestead in St. John, and a salesclerk at ALCO in Larned. She retired in 2005. On November 28, 1959 she married Linus F. Scheck at Pratt, KS. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2019. Her memberships included, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, Belpre, KS. She enjoyed reading books, scrapbooking, counted cross-stitching, latch-hooking, playing the piano, and loved playing cards. Survivors include three sons, John L. Scheck, Wichita, KS, Jeffery J. Scheck (Angela), Belpre, KS, Jay A. Scheck, Great Bend, KS; a daughter, Julie K. Scheck (Bernadette Romero), Wichita, KS; a brother, Robert Martin (Mary), Eureka, KS; a sister, Joyce Thomas, Hennessey, OK; two grandchildren, Andrew Scheck (Kate) and Cody Rosenhamer (Reagan); three great-grandchildren, Jacelyn Scheck, Kole Scheck, and Kylee Scheck; and one great-grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wallace Martin; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Thomas. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 1-7 PM in the Minnis Chapel, Macksville, KS with the family present from 5-7 PM. Rosary/Vigil service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, KS. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church wit
