The Fort Hays State track and field teams enter postseason competition this weekend (May 2-4) with the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by the Hornets of Emporia State in Emporia, Kan.
Fort Hays State senior shortstop Regan Curry was named the MIAA A-Game Scholar Athlete for the 2025 softball season, announced by the conference office on Tuesday (Apr. 29).
After a great season that saw both players produce the two highest win totals for a single-season in the program's NCAA Division II history, Irina Alfonso and Suzana Faucz earned selections on the 2025 All-MIAA Women's Tennis Team, released on Thursday (May 1). Alfonso was one of 15 student-athletes named to the team for singles play and she joined her doubles partner Faucz as honorable mention selections in doubles play.

The 19th-ranked Fort Hays State baseball team dropped the opening game of its final regular season series Thursday (May 1), losing at Rogers State 6-5. The Tigers (32-13, 26-8 MIAA) led 3-0 and 5-2 before the Hillcats (27-19, 17-17 MIAA) scored the final four runs to take the lead for good.
Hays has maintained their top spot in the Western Athletic Conference, with just one blemish on their conference record to Great Bend. With just eight games remaining this season, pitchers Cooper Johnson and Jonathan Cano remain atop the pitching leaderboard in ERA, WHIP and wins.
Both games of Thursday night’s Hays vs. Thomas More Prep-Marian match up came down to the wire, game one falling in favor of the Monarchs, game two going to the hosting Indians.
Following last week’s delayed double header, the Hays High Indians were able to complete their final match up against Great Bend Monday afternoon, the final contest falling in favor of the Panthers 13-7 (Game one 10-0, Game two 11-5). Great Bend is now 15-4 on the season, 9-0 in the Western Athletic Conference, Hays falls to 9-7, 4-4.
The Fort Hays State University Rodeo inducted its third class into the 2025 FHSU Rodeo Hall of Fame inside the Schenk Building at the Ellis County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 19. The inductees were FHSU alumni who were former student members of the rodeo team or campus leaders who supported the rodeo program.
The Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs entered Friday night as the No. 1 ranked 2-1A team in Kansas, taking on 4A Abilene in a pair of hard-fought losses, their first of the season.
