Fort Hays State played to a 1-1 draw with Rockhurst on Thursday (Sept. 1). Each team netted a goal in the first half nearly a minute apart, but neither could cash in opportunities in the second half. The No. 7 ranked Tigers moved to 1-1-1 on the year and the Hawks picked up their second straight tie, now 0-0-2.

Kansas added an additional year to football coach Lance Leipold’s contract Thursday that will keep him on the sideline through the 2027 season, a reward for a twowin first year that raised hopes for a long-awaited turnaround.
WHAT’S AT STAKE? Kansas coach Lance Leipold begins Year 2 of his rebuild against Tennessee Tech, which won just three games a year ago in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Jayhawks then jump into Big 12 play against West Virginia before tougher out-of-conference games against Houston and Duke, making a win over the Golden Eagles imperative.
