In Friday afternoon’s doubleheader between Thomas More Prep and Goodland, the Monarchs were able to secure a split in a pair of high scoring offensive battles. In game one, the Cowgirls started off hot with a six run first inning, following defensive miscues.

McPHERSON – The Hays High girls’ soccer team finished third at the 16th annual McPherson Invitational after a 2-0 win over McPherson on Friday. After a scoreless first half, HHS made it 1-0 on a header by senior Madelyn Martin in the 45th minute on a cross by senior Caroline Robben.
GREAT BEND – Missing three starters, the Thomas More Prep-Marian girls’ soccer team lost 3-1 to Great Bend on Thursday. After a scoreless first half, Great Bend opened the scoring in the 53rd minute.
In Hays High’s opening doubleheader of the softball season, the Indians took on the Cowgirls in a pair of high scoring games. The first two innings proved to be the difference in the contest, Abilene capitalized on four HHS errors for the lead.

The Tiger Baseball team struggles to find success amidst a tough MIAA schedule, falling to Pitt State in all three games by scores of 1-14, 5-10 and 5-8. In game one, the Tigers scored first, manufacturing their only run of the game off of a sacrifice fly from Ed Scott.
