GREAT BEND – After playing so well in the second half of the season, the Hays High girls’ basketball team enters the postseason on a down note after falling to Great Bend 48-45 Friday night. The Indians had lost a heart-breaker at the buzzer against a ranked Dodge City squad earlier in the week.
SALINA – Even though she didn’t medal, just wrestling at the Class 4-1A girls’ state tournament was a milestone for freshman Claudine Stein and Thomas More Prep-Marian. Stein, the lone girls’ wrestler for the Monarchs, was the first to make it to state in the girls’ program.
In the girls 1A-4A state wrestling tournament, Ellis was represented by three athletes including Abigail Heifner, Maleah Vine and Kaydawn Haag. In the 101 pound weight class, Heifner began her day with a loss to Mariah Lopez of Burlingame, sending her to the consolation bracket.
