The Hays High boys basketball team used four double-digit performances to cruise past the Garden City Buffaloes 56-37 Friday night. Garden City scored first with a shot from the perimeter, but Hays answered back with a 12-2 run to gain control of the game.
The Monarchs won a close game Tuesday. They won another nail-biter on Thursday.

As the Hays High girls’ basketball team prepared for their matchup against the Abilene Cowgirls, 5A state rankings revealed their placement in the top ten. The Hays High girls’ team has not seen this high of a ranking since 2018, when the Indians ended their season ranked eighth.
NORTON – Another fast start – led by senior Emilee Lane – boosted the Thomas More Prep-Marian girls’ basketball team to a 62-44 MCL victory over Norton on Thursday night. Lane scored 10 of her 13 points in the first eight minutes. It also put Monarch coach Rose McFarland in a joking mood.
NORTON – Another game, another game-winning out-of-bounds play. It just took a second inbounds play to make the winning shot this time around.
