DODGE CITY – It was a signature victory for the Hays High girls’ basketball team, and senior Aleyia Ruder had her name written all over it. Ruder hit a desperation, closely-guarded 3-pointer at the buzzer Friday night to give the Indians a 42-40 upset win over Dodge City, the eighth-ranked team in Class 6A.
DODGE CITY – Wherever Cooper Scheck went, an Indian was soon to follow. The Hays High boys’ basketball team won a showdown of the top two teams in the Western Athletic Conference on Friday night, shutting down the Red Demons, 53-34.
The TMP Monarchs won a close contested battle against the Smith Center Lady Red to remain the only undefeated team in the MCL. Though Smith Center threatened in the fourth, TMP used a late rally to come out on top by a score of 57-50.
A huge first quarter propelled the TMP boys past the Smith Center Redmen 69-25 Friday night. Smith Center struck first with a field goal to take the lead, but it was TMP the rest of the way.
