The Hays Larks maintain a strong season at the top of the Rocky Mountain Baseball League with a pair of midweek wins over the Kansas Cannons and the Collegiate RoughRiders, their series to continue throughout the weekend.

Fort Hays State men's golfer Cooper Scheck has been named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-America At-Large Team as a second team selection, announced Wednesday (July 9). The Academic All-America Team is voted on by members of College Sports Communicators nationwide, which reflects both academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

The Hays Larks improved to 18-4-1 with a end of week sweep over the Gameday Angels 27-3 and 15-13, followed by a win over the Newton Rebels Monday night, 8-3.

Katie DeGarmo of Fort Hays State Women's Basketball was voted as the ESPN Wichita (92.3 FM) Small College Female Athlete of the Year for the station's 2025 Honorary ESPYs, announced on Monday (July 7). DeGarmo was announced as one of eight female finalists for the honor back on June 16 by the station.

The Kansas Senate president said Thursday a meeting with bipartisan legislative leadership would be called July 7 to extend the deadline for the Kansas City Chiefs or Kansas City Royals to accept an offer of financial support for construction of professional sports stadiums in Kansas. Senate President Ty Masterson said the Republican-dominated Legislative Coordinating Council, which conducts state business when the Legislature isn’t in session, would consider an extension of the one-year STAR bond deadline enacted in July 2024.
