The Fort Hays State athletic department had a school-record 119 newcomers listed on the 2024-25 MIAA Academic Honor Roll, announced Monday (July 7) by the league office. This is the second time FHSU has had more than 100 newcomers listed, surpassing the previous high of 101 in 2022-23.

The Kansas Supreme Court reversed the drug-trafficking conviction of an Illinois-tagged motorist linked to evidence seized from a vehicle stopped by Geary County law enforcement merely because the frame around a license plate obstructed part of the state’s name. The unanimous Supreme Court noted Kansas statute didn’t require a state’s name on license plates to be clearly legible.

The cost to the County for the $358,000 new road grader, with the $50,000 trade-in of a 2017 John Deer 670GP with over 9500 hours, will be $308,000.
