Berges asks fellow Commissioners to consider 1 mill increase for 2026, stay Revenue Neutral for 2027 & 2028

Ellis County Commission Chair Michael Berges made two requests of his fellow Commissioners on June 10, 2025, during the County Commission Reports. Berges’ described his second request as a proposal that Commissioners entertain a “thought exercise” as they work on the 2026 Budget, to exceed revenue neutral by one mill (approximately $1M) and commit to staying revenue neutral for the following two years (2027 & 2028 Budgets).

Secured Load Policy enacted as effort to clean up road to Landfill

The Ellis County Commission has unanimously voted to adopt a Secured Loads Policy which states that all loads brought to the landfill must be securely covered, tarped, tied, bound, roped or utilize any other covering which will prevent the material from spilling, becoming loose or detached in any manner which may become a hazard to other landfills. The decision was made during the June 10 meeting as a part of Resolution 2025-10).
