Men's 4x100m School Record Goes Down on Day One of Outdoor Nationals

The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships with several strong performances Thursday (May 22). Seven athletes competed in five events on day one of the national meet, with the Tigers breaking one school record and clinching a spot in Saturday's finals and another locking up second team All-America status.

City Commission seeks more community input on backyard chickens

Following a 20-minute discussion during the May 15, 2025, Hays City Commission Work Session, Commissioners directed City Staff to conduct an online poll in an effort to gather more community input regarding a proposed ordinance permitting up to five hens (no roosters) city-wide, within a fenced back or side yard, fenced-in coop, with no registration required. The one-question online survey asks if residents support, oppose, or have no opinion regarding the proposed new ordinance.

Hays downs Manhattan on senior night, Whitehurst mowing down batters into post season

Hays High went out with a bang, their final double header of the regular season resulting in a 6A sweep of Manhattan on senior night. Avery Solida had a day to remember, a three run homer in the bottom of the fifth making way for the game one run-rule, a home plate celebration the perfect gift for the senior on her birthday.
