A line of rain was expected to move northeastward through New England on Sunday, and areas of heavy rain embedded with thunderstorms were expected in the Southeast.

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms were also expected through Texas. There was a slight chance of severe weather there.

Considerable rain was expected in the Ohio Valley and southern New England in the afternoon and evening.

Rain was also expected late in the day in western Washington and Oregon.

The Northeast was to rise into the 60s, while the Southeast was to see temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The Upper Midwest was to rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Southwest was to see temperatures in the 90s and 100s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Saturday ranged from 0 degrees at Lake Yellowstone, Wyo., to 101 degrees at Indio, Calif.
