Allowing 49 runs through three games, the Fort Hays State University baseball team is 0-3 against Missouri Southern State University in a four-game MIAA series at Larks Park.

FHSU dropped Friday's opener 14-8, giving up six runs in the eighth inning that broke an 8-8 tie. Then Saturday, the Tigers lost 12-7 in the opener of a doubleheader and 23-5 in the nightcap.

In Friday's opener, FHSU rallied to tie the game twice. The first time came in the fourth on a two-run home run by Caleb Cherryholmes. Then in the seventh, Nick Hammeke had a solo homer, and Cooper Langley added a two-run shot that tied the game at eight. Missouri Southern also had a pair of home runs in the contest with the wind blowing out.

The losses drop FHSU to 3-12 overall and 3-8 in the MIAA. Mo. Southern improved to 14-1, 7-0 in MIAA play.

The two are slated to wrap up the series with a noon single game today at Larks Park.

FHSU has lost eight straight since winning the opener in a series at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. In the eight-game skid, the Tigers have allowed an average of a little more than 14 runs per ball game, and have scored just 6.5, and have been shut out twice.

After the series concludes today, the Tigers will be on the road Wednesday for a single game at Southwestern Oklahoma State, then in Maryville, Mo. for a four-game MIAA set with Northwest Missouri State University.
