With two weeks left in the regular season, the Hays Larks played and won their final non-conference game of the summer. After a 7-4 win Saturday over Greeley (Colo.), the Larks defeated the Greys again Sunday, winning 8-2 to push their record to 23-12 on the year.

Jesse Hart got the win for the Larks in three innings of a team-pitched game. Hart allowed just one hit with a strikeout and two walks in Sunday's game, helped by a 3-for-4 effort for Aaron Cornell. Cornell had a 24-game hit streak going before grounding out to short in a pinch-hit appearance in Saturday's game.

Cornell is now hitting .393 just behind Cody Gougler at .403. Gougler finished 2-for-4 in Sunday's game with a pair of runs scored, while Brandon Dixon was 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs. His run came when he stole home with two outs in the fifth inning.

In Saturday's game, Jon Ryan celebrated his 19th birthday by hitting a three-run walk-off home run. After Hays tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, Ryan collected his second hit of the game in walk-off fashion with two outs to break the tie. Ethan Leiter picked up the win in relief, pitching the ninth inning Saturday.

Dixon finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ryan drove in four runs.

Andrew Heck also made his return to the Larks, going 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Heck, who played the last two summers with Hays, was added last week and will add depth to the Larks' pitching staff as well as outfield.

Hays hosts Dodge City in Jayhawk League action today at Larks Park. Game time is 7 p.m. The Larks then travel to Liberal for two days and play their final road game of the season Thursday in Dodge City.

Hays then closes the regular season with a four-game league homestand.
