Delores Hendrix, 80, WaKeeney, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, from cancer at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
She was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Trego County, to Richard and Hazel (Backstrom) Turner. She was a graduate of Brownell High School.
She married Wayne Hendrix on June 6, 1954. He preceded her in death. She opened a successful custom drapery business and later a ceramic shop where she worked with her daughter for 20 years before retiring and returning to WaKeeney in 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Richard, WaKeeney, Robert, Scott City, and Keith, Soldotna, Alaska; a daughter, Carla Tanner, Houston, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney; burial in Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.
