Charles Vern Rogers, 73, Hays, died Friday, March 11, 2016, at Via Christi Village, Hays.

He was born Jan. 7, 1943, in Womer to Milton and Theo (Jones) Rogers. He graduated from Esbon High School and Brown Mackie Business College.

He married Darlene Ann Wolf on March 30, 1990, in Hays. He worked for Kleerwater Pools and Spas and also for Enersys for 15 years.

He enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening and reading, and he was an accomplished artist emphasizing in acrylic paintings.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Hays; a daughter, Jacqueline Eakin and husband, Shannon, Hays; three brothers, Jim Rogers, Smith Center, Jeff Rogers and wife, Janice, Manhattan, and Jerry Rogers and wife, Jan, Chanute; two sister-in-laws, Rita Bell, Good Samaritan Society of Ellis, and Johanna Rogers, Blue Springs, Mo.; three grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Cassandra Johnson and Brandon Kahrs, all of Hays; three great-grandchildren, Emry Lundy, and Jazmine and Lucas Lynd, all of Hays; and his dog, Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Joseph Jacobs III; a brother, Merlin Rogers; a sister and brother-in-law, Karla and Ken Johanek; a sister-in-law, Lela Rogers; and his pet dog, Gus.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday both at the funeral chapel.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the family and to be designated at a later date.
