The Hays High golf team placed third at the Dodge City Invitational without one of its top golfers.

The Indians had a pair of golfers medal. Sophomore Allen Zollinger led Hays High with a 79, good for eighth, while freshman Trey McCrae was one stroke and one place back in ninth.

Payton Ruder and Justin McCullick rounded out the team scores, turning in an 82 and 83, respectively.

The Indians total of 324 was nine back of Maize for first place and two strokes back of Western Athletic Conference foe Garden City for second.

Hutchinson's Jack Lanham beat Garden City's Taylor Larsen on the first playoff hole for the individual championship after each shot a 71 through 18.
