Eddie Heffel Jr., 80, Hays, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 30, 1933, in Russell to Edward and Esther Marie (Fink) Heffel Sr. He graduated from Russell High School and received a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University.
He married Signa McKanna on Feb. 10, 1954. He was an automotive parts salesman working for many years at S&W of Hays. He retired as a sales manager from Jarvis Auto Supply, Winfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with friends and family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Hays; a son, Roger Heffel and wife, Joyce, Hays; a daughter, Cynthia Heffel, Hays; four grandchildren, Steven Stremel and wife, Boram, Seattle, Stacy Rogers and husband, David, San Pedro, Calif., Kelly Flaska and husband, Gabe, and Kayci Schumacher and husband, Jeremiah, all of Hays; and nine great-grandchildren, Ben, Ella, Jack and Max Schumacher, Gavin and Karsen Flaska, and Lucy, Jude and Eleanor Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life service will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Dreiling Schmidt Cancer Institute or DeBakey Heart Institute in care of the funeral chapel.
