Brian and Shirley (Schmidt) Windholz, Elkhorn, Neb., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 27, 2019.

They were married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.

The couple both graduated from Fort Hays State College. He was an associate administrator and accountant at St. Thomas Hospital and administrator at Thomas County Hospital, assisting in the move to Citizens Medical Center in Colby until 1985 when they relocated to Russell, where he was the controller at Russell Regional Hospital and Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He later worked as city treasurer for the City of Russell and retired in 2004. She worked at accounting firms in Colby and Russell as well as the central business office of USD No. 407 from 1989 to1995, before returning to FHSU to obtain a teaching degree and master’s degree in instructional technology. She taught at Ruppenthal Middle School in Russell from 1995 to 2007. Earlier this year the couple moved to Elkhorn.

The couple have three children, Jennifer Weiner and husband, Barry, Chanhassen, Minn., Chad Windholz and wife, Teri Madsen, Papillion, Neb., and Kim Spletstoser and husband, Jared, Collegeville, Pa.

Grandchildren of the couple are Ben, Kate, David, Cameron, Justin, Alex, Rian Boub, Gavyn, and Tyler.

The couple hosted a reception on Nov. 23, in Elkhorn.
