The Fort Hays State University baseball team lost 8-5 on Sunday to Missouri Southern State University in the series finale at Larks Park. The Lions swept the four-game series, which started Friday, sending FHSU to 3-13 overall, 3-9 in MIAA play.  

The Tigers trailed 3-0 after half an inning to MSSU (15-1, 8-0) but scored two runs in both the first and second innings to lead 4-3. That score held until the Lions tied the game with a single run in the top of the sixth, finally breaking the game open with a four-run eighth inning.

MSSU's Cody Hutchinson (4-0) took the win, going the full nine innings. Senior Gus Strunk (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers in 1.2 innings of relief work. Senior Chase Newman started on the mound for FHSU, going 5.2 innings and allowing four earned runs.

Kevin Czarnecki and Alex King each had two runs batted in for the Tigers.

FHSU is on the road this week, beginning with a Wednesday afternoon game at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla. The Tigers play a four-game series at Northwest Missouri State University starting Friday in Maryville, Mo.
