Two occupants of a four-seater Cessna were not injured during the plane's emergency landing at approximately 10 a.m. Friday at Hays Regional Airport.
Robert Johnson, airport manager, said the pilot called in with a report of engine problems. The aircraft landed and was taken into the maintenance area.
"As a precaution, which is our responsibility, we sounded the crash alarm to have emergency vehicles on station in case of fire or if the engine quit," Johnson said. "The aircraft landed without incident."
The Hays Fire Department, Hays Police Department, Ellis County Sheriff's Office, Ellis County EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The city's fire response included one rescue pumper and two airport fire trucks pre-positioned adjacent to the runway in case of emergency, said Chief Gary Brown.
