“Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude” — Colossians 2:6, 7 HCSB.
Have you been walking lately? We all know that walking is one of the best ways to take care of our physical health. Walking with Jesus is the only way to sustain our spiritual well-being. Have you been walking with Jesus lately? It is exactly what our world needs.
Look around and you see fear and dread. Anger and disappointment. Too many today are simply not walking with the Savior. The world creeps in and robs people of the joy of eternity. We often concentrate way too much on the here and now. By grace through faith our lives are changed for the better for today and right into eternity.
The Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts. The Word of God is the seed planted in our hearts. With watering (i.e. hearing, reading, and studying) that seed takes root. It grows up in faith in Christ. Our nourished faith establishes a firm relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our walk in this life with Jesus gives us the lasting, perfect peace that the world cannot and does not provide. Dear believers, the light of the glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what our wicked world needs to see. Christ-walkers are the light in this world that cannot be hidden.
How do our lives shine with the Lord’s light? This happens quite naturally when we are overflowing with thankfulness. The thankful life of a joy-filled believer is noticed in this unhappy world. Walking with Jesus releases us from the worries of living in this world. Do not let Satan distract you from the one thing needful — Jesus. The devil is working overtime in our society today. There is way too much anger and despair.
Friends, we know how important it is to walk for a healthy life. We also know how far more important it is to walk with Jesus for a healthy spiritual life. Stay rooted in Christ. Build up your faith with God’s living, active, and powerful Word. Overflow with thankfulness. God has given you faith as a blessing to be a blessing.
Heavenly Father help us to walk more closely with Jesus. Give us the strength of faith to shine your peace and joy on those still walking in darkness. Amen.
