Some voters will go to the polls Tuesday to vote on three questions.

All Hays USD 489 qualified voters will vote on two bond questions:

An $85,135,000 bond for deferred maintenance, construction of storm shelters at all schools (excluding Hays Middle School), installation of safe and secure entrances, and renovations and additions to district facilities.

An $8.9 million bond for the construction of gymnasiums at HMS and Hays High School.

Qualified voters in the city of Hays will vote on a third question: a half-cent city sales tax that would be in place for 10 years to help pay for the school district improvements. If approved, it would start at the sunset of the current Ellis County half-cent sales tax set to expire in 2018.

Voters who reside in Hays will vote at the American Legion, 1305 Canterbury. USD 489 voters outside the city limits will vote at St. Nicholas of Myra Parish, 2901 E. 13th.

Voters must have voter ID.
