COLBY — In a makeup game postponed from December due to weather, the Hays High School boys’ basketball team won its second game in as many days Saturday night.

The Indians, led by 12 points each from Cole Murphy and Claiborne Kyles, hung on to beat Colby 48-44.

The Indians led 16-8 after one quarter with three 3-pointers by Murphy in the opening session, then cooled off. Colby pulled to within 27-22 by halftime. Colby started the third quarter hot and took its only lead at 28-27, but Hays High went on 11-0 run to pull away.

Colby pulled back to within two in the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run. Hays High scored just four points in the final quarter, but it was enough to hang on for the win.

The win improves Hays High to 12-6, while Colby dropped to 3-15.

The Indians are at Dodge City on Tuesday, then close the regular season with a home game Friday against Great Bend.
