The Hays City Commission will meet for a work session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at city hall.
A request for a Tax Increment Financing District will be discussed for a proposed new hotel and convention center to be located near north Vine Street. The developer has requested an incentive package including a TIF, Community Improvement District and the retention of the on-site transient guest tax.
The proposed development calls for a 100-room Hilton Garden Inn and 8,000 square-foot convention center. The site just behind Walmart is undeveloped.
Other agenda items for Thursday's meeting include:
• A progress report on reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant.
• A financial request in the amount of approximately $13,500 to finish protecting and displaying a historic 40 and 8 boxcar in Veterans Park.
• An update of the airport capital improvement plan.
• Discussion of a proposed second phase for the Home Depot Transportation Development District.
