COLBY — An Atwood woman was injured after the vehicle she was in was hit by tires that came off another vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Thomas County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Ford dually pickup was southbound on Kansas Highway 25 about 11 miles north of Colby at about 2:30 p.m. when the rear left tires came off, striking the bumper of a northbound 1999 Dodge pickup.
The Dodge came to a stop, while the Ford traveled about 1,000 feet on its axle before stopping.
A passenger in the Dodge, Susan M. Romme, 55, Atwood, was taken to Citizens Medical Center, Colby, with injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Rickey J. Romme, 60, Atwood, was not inured. They were not wearing safety restraints, according to the KHP.
The driver of the Ford, Dustin L. Kibel, 33, Colby, was not injured. He was wearing a safety restraint.
