COLBY — The Thomas More Prep-Marian baseball team swept Colby on Thursday, earning 5-0 and 16-2 wins to finish the regular season with a 19-1 record.
Cole Zimmerman earned the win in the first game. He tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine. Trenton Mayo threw two innings in relief.
TMP took control with a four-run fourth inning, with Brady Kreutzer, Karl Rack, Mayo and Tate Garcia each driving in runs.
Mayo, Kreutzer, and Gottschalk each had two hits in the game.
TMP scored four runs in the first inning of the second game on the way to the blowout win. The Monarchs finished with 13 hits in the nightcap, led by a 3-for-3 outing at the plate from Luke Ruder.
Chase Werth went four innings on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six and walking one. Garcia threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
