Barbara Wasinger, an Ellis County commissioner who also is running for the office of Kansas Representative for the 111th District, announced Friday she has appointed two local officials to help with her campaign.
Ellis County commissioner Dean Haselhorst and Hays City commissioner Sandy Jacobs will be serving as co-chairs on Wasinger’s behalf.
“I’m grateful that I can call on both urban and rural leaders such as Sandy and Dean to help me with my campaign,” Wasinger said. “It can only be good for me.”
Wasinger is running as a Republican and will not face a primary challenger. She and incumbent Eber Phelps, a Democrat, are set to face each other in the November election.
The deadline has not yet passed for independent candidates to file for local and state office.
