The Hays Larks dropped Game 2 of their final regular season series against Liberal, falling 6-5 to the Bee Jays in 11 innings on Tuesday night at Larks Park.

Liberal used a walk, error and a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run in the 11th. The Larks got their first two runners on base in the bottom of the inning and had the bases loaded with two outs before a flyout ended the game.

The Larks (34-10, 26-9 Jayhawk League) will close out the regular season against the Bee Jays at 7 p.m. tonight before beginning play in the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita late next week.

The game was tied at 3 heading into the eighth before each team plated two runs in the frame. Jacob Boston scored on a wild pitch before R.J. Williams drew a bases-loaded walk to tie it at 5 for the Larks.

Larks’ starter Walter Pennington went five innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits to take a no-decision. Sam Slugger gave up just a run in four innings of a relief but drew the loss for Hays.
