EMPORIA — Thomas More Prep-Marian's Shannen Chin ended her standout high school golf career with a fourth-place finish in the Class 3-2-1A state tournament on Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course. 

Chin, the defending champion, carded an 83 in frigid conditions, finishing seven strokes behind winner Rylie Cook from Stanton County. Cook was runner-up to Chin in last year's tournament. 

Thomas More Prep-Marian took sixth as a team. 

Goodland's Kerrigan Rudolph placed second with a 79 while Seabury's Faith Hedges, the 2016 champ, took third with an 81.

Syracuse captured the team title with a score of 362, 14 shots better than runner-up Goodland.

TOURNEYS POSTPONED — The Class 6A, 5A and 4A state tournaments all were postponed until Tuesday. All will begin with noon shotgun starts. The Hays High Indians will be competing in the Class 5A tournament at Hesston. 

TMP soccer falls to Garden City

The TMP-Marian soccer team took a 2-1 loss to Garden City on Monday at Bickle-Schmidt Complex. The Monarchs will play at Hays High at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
