Bond was set Monday morning in Ellis County District Court for two suspects in a Friday burglary that prompted a search for the male suspect.
Larry Shifflett was apprehended Friday evening after a pursuit in Ellsworth County, according to a Hays Police Department report. The vehicle he was driving had been stolen from Hays. He is being held in the Ellis County Jail on suspicion of aggravated burglary, two counts of burglary, felony theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hays Police earlier in the day had arrested a woman identified as Contessa D. Muncy after a report of a residential burglary. She is being held on suspicion of aggravated burglary, burglary, felony theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police learned the couple was staying at the Fort Hays Inn, 2524 Vine, and deployed the Special Situation Response team to clear the room. Some items reported stolen in the burglary were recovered in the hotel room, according to the police report.
Both Shifflett and Muncy have Florida drivers licenses. Bond was set at $75,000 for Shifflett and $60,000 for Muncy. Charges have not yet been filed.
