TMP-Marian High School announced Tuesday that Aaron Breit will take over as head coach for the TMP baseball team. He begins his role as the team prepares for the 2019 season.
Breit has coached with Dustin Washburn for several seasons at TMP-Marian, including last springs run to the Class 3A state championship game.
“He is the brightest baseball mind I know,” Washburn said of Breit. The two were teammates at TMP and Garden City Community College. “My decision to leave was a difficult one and knowing that the program would be in good hands helped me decide to go to FHSU,” Washburn said.
In addition, Washburn added he is looking forward to the level of play and recruiting aspects that FHSU has to offer. TMP-Marian and Troy Schulte, activities director, thanked Washburn for his time as coach.
“Dusty did a great job leading the program the past two years and I wish him the best of luck as he looks to join the FHSU baseball program,” Schulte stated.
Breit is excited to keep the program moving forward.
“I want to make sure the players stay fundamentally sound in their faith and in life. He wants the program to make strides and keep moving in the right direction.” Schulte said, “Coach Breit has been a tremendous asset to the TMP-Marian baseball program the past couple of years as an associate head coach and I believe he will provide a seamless transition in taking over as the head coach. Coach Breit has great knowledge of the game and more importantly is an outstanding role model for our male athletes.”
Breit lives in Hays with his wife Jami Breit (Brull) and their children Connor, a fifth grader at Holy Family Elementary, Cy, a preschooler at HFE and Reed, a future Monarch.
