Wayne Arthur Leiker Sr., 80, died Nov. 26, 2018, at LakePoint El Dorado, El Dorado.
He was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Hays to Martin A. and Bridget (Burgardt) Leiker.
He graduated in 1956 from Hays High School.
He married Edith M. Klaus on June 21, 1958, in Hays.
He worked in the oil fields doing everything from driving trucks to production supervisor to being a self-employed independent oil operator.
He was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist’s Catholic Church, El Dorado. He enjoyed woodworking and made several “grandfather” and “grandmother” clocks. He and Edith enjoyed motorhome travel and watching his TV shows, and his greatest joy was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home; two sons, Wayne (Connie) Leiker Jr., Norman, Okla., and Col. Cameron (B.G. Maria Biank) Leiker, Stuttgart, Germany; four grandchildren, Erica (Brendon) Van Dorn, Fort Worth, Texas, Daniel ( Stephanie) Leiker, Norman, Okla., Christina (Chris) Zimmerman, St. Francis, and Julia Leiker, Stuttgart, Germany; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist’s Catholic Church, led by Fr. John Lanzrath. Burial is at a later date in Munjor.
