After showing signs of improvement since their season opener, the Thomas More Prep-Marian boys put everything together in Friday's home opener against Oakley.

The Monarchs dominated from start to finish, cruising to a 61-33 victory at Al Billinger Fieldhouse for their fourth straight win.

"It was probably our most complete game," first-year TMP head coach Bill Meagher said. "We've had some sparks, but tonight it was nice to put it all together. We had some outside shooting, we had some post play inside and balanced scoring."

Carson Jacobs gave the Monarchs a spark off the bench, scoring 10 of his 12 points in the first half as TMP opened up a 37-13 lead by the break.

"I was really excited with his play," Meagher said of Jacobs, a junior forward. "Everybody in the gym I think knew he was ready to go tonight. Just was hard to handle for the other team."

TMP, which improved to 4-2 and 2-0 in the MCL, played up tempo the whole way, something Meagher said will be the norm for the Monarchs.

"We want to get up and down the floor as much as we can," Meagher said. "One of the advantages for us, especially in our league, is our bench. If we can get into the other team's bench, that's a good strength for us. It allows us, with some young guys and inexperienced guys, to make up a little bit. We just want to play fast every possession."

Sophomore guard Jackson Schulte scored 12 to share team-high honors with Jacobs while senior guard Ryan Karlin added 11. Kade Hemmert led Oakley with 12.

The Monarchs stretched their lead to 57-27 by the end of the third quarter and the fourth quarter was played under a continuous clock.

TMP is looking to continue its dominance of the MCL, despite graduating all five starters from last year's team that qualified for state.

"We are unwilling to give that up until someone takes that from us," Meagher said. "I'm not disrespecting anybody in the league because there's some good teams in the league and some great coaches, but they're going to have to come in here and take it from us. Our goal is to make them earn it."
