WARRENSBURG, Mo. — The Fort Hays State men's basketball team saw its six-game win streak snapped after struggling down the stretch on Thursday at Central Missouri, falling 63-54 to the Mules at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

Fort Hays (8-4, 2-1 MIAA) led by seven with 10 minutes left but UCM outscored the Tigers 28-12 the rest of the way. 

The Mules managed just 35 points over the first 30 minutes before 11 hitting of 15 attempts from the field over the last 10 minutes. 

The Tigers were held under 40 percent from the field for the first time this season, connecting on just 19 of 52 attempts for 36.5 percent. 

FHSU trailed 23-21 at halftime and led by seven on three different occasions in the second half before the Mules caught fire down the stretch. 

FHSU senior forward Brady Werth recorded 14 points and nine rebounds while sophomore Jared Vitztum had nine points and nine boards. Senior guard Marcus Cooper joined Werth in double figures with 10 points. 

Central Missouri (8-4, 1-2 MIAA) got 14 points each from Jakob Lawrence and James Byrd.

The Tigers have now lost their last five true road games dating back to last season. 

The Tigers will play at Southwest Baptist at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.
