A community service event Saturday with Gov.-elect Laura Kelly and Lt. Gov.-elect Lynn Rogers will happen come rain or snow.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of western Kansas including Ellis County. Rain should begin late Friday morning and is expected to change over to snow. Snow showers will continue through Saturday morning, with up to 3 inches possible.
Community service events have been planned across the state Saturday as part of Kelly’s inauguration celebration. The Hays event is to be a clean-up day and food drive at Aubel Bickle Park, 30th and Sherman.
Alternate plans due to inclement weather will be to have a food drive at the Ellis County Democratic Party field office, 1502 Vine, party chairman Henry Schwaller said. Kelly and Rogers are still expected to attend.
