Jamie Salter has been named the new manager of city-owned Hays Regional Airport by City Manager Toby Dougherty. An employee with the city of Hays for 11 years, Salter took over as airport manager on Sunday.
Salter has a Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University. She worked for the city for more than 11 years.
A press release from the city’s Human Resources Director Erin Giebler said Salter has previously provided administrative support for the airport.
“Mrs. Salter has 11 years of experience with the City of Hays,” Dougherty said. “She is well-versed in airport operations and regulatory matters. The Hays Regional Airport will continue to grow under her leadership.”
Commercial flights at the airport totaled more than 12,000 in 2018, the most ever for the airport.
SkyWest Airlines, through the regional branch of United Airlines’ United Express, offers flights to Denver International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
SkyWest’s 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets fly daily from the easy-access terminal at the general aviation airport located 3 miles southeast of Hays.
