GARDEN CITY — The Hays High baseball team remained unbeaten with a sweep of Garden City on Friday, picking up 8-1 and 12-0 wins to move to 8-0 on the season. 

Hays High collected 25 hits on the day while holding the Buffaloes to eight.

Palmer Hutchison allowed just two hits in five shutout innings in Game 1, recording six strikeouts while walking just one. Willie Sennett tossed the last two innings, giving up one run on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Cody Petersen notched three hits in the first game while Sennett and Dominic Bainter had two hits each. Brock Lummus had a triple while Petersen and Hutchison each recorded a double. 

Hutchison went 5 for 5 at the plate with a double and four RBIs in the second game.

Petersen and Dylan Dreiling combined for six shutout innings in Game 2. Petersen went four innings, allowing three hits with two walks while striking out six. Dreiling worked the last two frames, giving up a hit and one walk while striking out four. 

Hays is 4-0 against Class 6A opponents after sweeping Washburn Rural on Monday. 

The Indians will play Great Bend in a single game at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Hays High.
