ELLSWORTH — The Thomas More-Prep Marian baseball team swept Ellsworth with 9-5 and 7-1victroies  in Friday’s road doubleheader.

The Monarchs (4-2) took a 9-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning of the first game before allowing four inconsequential runs in the last half inning. Carson Jacobs earned the win, giving up one unearned run and just four hits while striking out eight and walking one in 4.1 innings of work. Mason Robbins tossed the last 2.2 innings. He gave up four runs and five hits.

Eston Brown had two hits and drove in four runs for the Monarchs in Game 1. Jacobs and Brady Kreutzer each doubled.

The Monarchs grabbed control early in Game 2, scoring two in the first, three in the second and two more in the fourth to open up a 7-0 lead.

Colby Dreiling went six innings, allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Kreutzer notched three strikeouts in the seventh to close it out.

Robbins had three hits with a double in the nightcap while Kreutzer, Ethan Atherton and Jace Wentling had two hits each. Kreutzer drove in four runs.

TMP will play its home opener against Ellis at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
