The Ellis County Commission will conduct a public hearing on the 2020 budget during its regular meeting beginning at 5 p.m. Monday in the Commission Room of the Ellis County Administrative Center.

Public comments and deliberations on the budget will be heard before the commissioners vote to adopt the budget.

County departments have been tasked with trimming their budgets by about 1.5 percent, and commissioners have looked to trim about $123,000 from funding outside agencies in an attempt to stem a revenue shortfall for the 2020 budget.

Also on Monday’s agenda:

• Filling a vacant position in the IT Department. Michael Leiker, IT director, is asking for a GIS analyst position to be reclassified as an IT support technician.

• Awarding a contract to Clean-Rite LLC for custodial services at the Ellis County Courthouse and Health Department for $405 a week.

• Nomination of Sheriff Ed Harbin to the board of trustees of the Kansas County Association Multiline Pool, which provides property and liability insurance coverage for counties.

• Approval of Ranson Financial Group LLC for financial advisory services.
