More than just cars can enter a car show this weekend in La Crosse sponsored by the Fort Hays Shrine Club.

The club’s third-annual car show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Grass Park in La Crosse.

Motorcycles and tractors will be welcome to enter the show, said Perry Herrman, president of the Fort Hays Shrine Club.

“We’re giving awards in all those categories — cars, motorcycles and tractors,” he said.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a $20 fee per entry.

“We’re going to have a horseshoe tournament as well. There’s a real nice horseshoe pit down there in Grass Park,” Herrman said.

Registration for the horseshoe tournament is $10 per team with the tournament starting at 10 a.m.

There will also be a raffle for a Benilli semi-automatic 12-gauge camo shotgun and a Henry lever action .410 shotgun. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Trophies and plaques will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds will help families who have to travel to Shriner’s hospitals. The closest Shriner’s hospital is in St. Louis, more than 500 miles from Hays.

“One-hundred percent of the proceeds go to our local travel fund for our local kids. We get to put gas in mom and dad’s car tank and pay for the motels and food while they’re down at St. Louis or wherever they have to go,” Herrman said.

“Sometimes those kids are down there for two, three weeks at a time, and so we do what we can,” he said.
